Osteochondrosis (Tibial Tuberosity)

Definition:

Osteochondrosis (Tibial tubrosity) is also known as Osgood-Schlatter disease. This disorder tends to occur in adolescence and is usually the result of a combination of rapid growth, along with competitive sports that overstress the knee joint. The patellar tendon, which is normally attached to the tibial tuberosity, sometimes becomes over strained, due to powerful quadriceps muscles. This over-straining sometimes tears or separates, which can be extremely painful and often disabling the individual.

Symptoms:

The symptoms are usually knees that are pressure sensitive at the point where the large tendon (kneecap area) attaches to the prominence below.
