Osteomalacia
Definition:
Persons with Osteomalacia have abnormal formation resulting from inadequate calcium in the bones. The lack of calcium can result from inadequate exposure to sunshine, which is needed to make vitamin D.
Cause:
The reasons for Osteomalacia can also be caused be conditions that impair absorption of vitamin D and/or calcium. The whole body must be balanced to have maximum absorption of the nutrients. The liver and kidney must have proper function. Damage to either organ can cause rickets. Osteomalacia is simply rickets, just for adults. The treatment is similar.
