Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Definition:

Individuals with prolonged emphysema also usually have chronic bronchitis and tend to demonstrate indications of each disease. This condition is known as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Chronic asthma may also be associated with either emphysema or chronic bronchitis, which may result in COPD.

Symptoms:

The symptoms of COPD is often the same as those of emphysema and chronic bronchitis, which are oftentimes the following: a dry, rough cough; often producing little.

Cause:

COPD and acute bronchitis may be caused by viral or bacterial infections. These tend to be the main causes; however, environmental conditions, such as pollutions, fumes, solvents, etc. also contribute to this health issue. This type of bronchitis is often preceded by an upper respiratory tract infection.
