Sea Sickness

Definition:

Sea sickness is the unpleasant feeling of nausea, which often precedes vomiting. (oftentimes experienced out at sea or on a boat.) Many liken this unpleasant sensation to queasiness.

Symptoms:

The unpleasant sensation of having to or wanting to vomit, queasiness, light-headed, etc.

Cause:

Nausea is also caused by distention or irritation anywhere in the GI tract, but can also be stimulated by higher brain centers. Interpretation of nausea occurs in the medulla, adjacent to, or part of, the vomiting center.
